IT'S X-MAS TIME

 

I had a very nice weekend: a three day trip with my boyfriend to X-massy and cosy Valkenburg (lights, gluhwein). Fourth visit to this town in Limburg with X-mas fair and caves; ideal for strolling in pittoresque streets. Enjoyable as ever!
Today an update with X-Mas themed inspirational photo's that may help you to give your house a festive outlook. Please note my colour ideas: fifty shades of white combined with natural materials. Also black or aquamarine provide a surprising X-Mas feeling. What colours do you prefer in X-mas time?

RAW MATERIALS

I had a great weekend! Saturday I went to the city for some inspiration. RAW MATERIALS (www.rawmaterials.nl)impressed me; what a beautiful store! The products they sell are weathered, used, recycled or simply old. Each product has its own story. I'm a huge fan of their metal (folding)chairs and stool. All match my personal interior taste. Their industrial furniture combined with great design produces a mixture of vintage and modern, making your interior sensational and unpredictable. I bought my mother a birthday present from the store OPTIONS

(www.optionsamsterdam.com): a paper birdhouse you can colorize and a very cool metal owl of one of my favourite brands: House Doctor. Hope you had also a nice weekend!

During Dutch Design Week I encountered an interesting do-it-yourself concept for converting a bulb lamp into a vase. Truely a source of inspiration: household items used for interior decoration! Why discarding old bulb lamps that can vamp your interior?

Last friday a lovely inspiration day in Eindhoven: Dutch Design Week! I found EAT DRINK DESIGN very impressive. In the barracks & shed I saw a pop-up restaurant featuring exhibits by (inter)national design talents like Sjoerd Ebberink, Imperfectdesign, Ontwerpduo and Sjoerd Vroonland.

INTERIOR ARCHITECT NATASJA MOLENAAR

A few years ago interior architect Natasja Molenaar started her own design studio. She still is focused on interior- and exteriorstyling and design custom made furniture.

I really like her interiors: she has a great feeling for details, colors and she combines beautiful textures.

AS GOOD AS NEW

Dutch studio i29 has coated everything in grey at this pop-up furniture shop in Amsterdam. Located inside fashion store SPRMRKT, the As Good As New concession is the launchpad for the designers’ new furniture collection, created from second hand pieces they’ve found in flea markets and charity shops. An industrial spray-on plastic creates a homogenous layer of matte grey over everything. They chose this material because it sticks to almost everything, and it's very durable. The shop is furnished like an old-fashioned living room, with a chandelier, a globe, a hunting trophy and a pair of old boots.
